NDGA 2011 Convention Information

July 9-10, 2011

The 2011 Convention Chairman is current Board member Mike Morris. The Convention Live Oak Civic Center will be held at the Live Oak Civic Center, located at the intersection of Interstate 35 and Texas Loop 1604 in San Antonio, Texas.

The format should be similar to past Conventions, with a general membership meeting on Saturday afternoon, about a half hour after the glass show closes. Seminars on various topics will be presented during the Convention hours, and you know there will be a fantastic array of displays from individual collections. We will post the latest information from the Convention Chairman as it comes in to us, so check back for updates periodically.

Lodging near the Live Oak Center

For those who wish to stay overnight in the area, we will provide a list of hotels/motels/B&B's in the area, as well as any camping facilities within a short drive. Expect this information to come out in plenty of time for you to make reservations.

Schedule of Events

Tower of the Americas The show and sale will open at 10:00am. Beginning with this Convention, the "Early Bird" session will no longer be offered, as there has been very little attendance in these sessions at recent Conventions.

Special Guest

The NDGA is proud to have Mr. David King, master engraver, as our special guest for 2011. Mr. King was an engraver for the Tiffin Glass Company of Tiffin, Ohio, and is the son of long-time Tiffin master engraver Clyde King.

Seminars and Speakers

It's way too early to list the speakers at the Convention. You can check back in the Spring to find out who will be featured.

National Glass Organizations

The NDGA encourages all of the National Glass Organizations to participate in the NDGA Convention, and will provide space (conditions permitting) for any of the National Glass Organizations who wish to attend and staff a table to promote their group. If you are a member of one of these organizations, start planning to have someone run a booth to promote your organization.

NDGA Annual Meeting

The Annual General Membership Meeting will be held in conjunction with the Convention. It begins at 5:30pm on Saturday. The meeting should last about 1½ hours, and members are encouraged to attend and participate. The newly elected officers and Board members will be introduced at this time.

Silent Auction

There will be another Silent Auction to raise money for the National Glass Collection. Members contribute various pieces of glass or other items, to be sold in the silent auction, with the proceeds going to one of the several NDGA funds (the person donating the item chooses where the money is to go).

Glass Displays

Each year at the Convention, collectors share their personal collections of glass and pottery with the rest of us. It is often the only opportunity that we have to see some of the rare and unusual items that are in private collections. This year will be no exception. We will also exhibit the additions to the National Glass Collection acquired since the last Convention.

List of Participating Dealers

Most dealers in the Glass Show portion of the Convention have been doing the shows for a number of years. The NDGA maintains a waiting list for dealers who wish to be considered. The list is maintained in date order, applications with earliest date received at the top. New dealers may fill out the NDGA Dealer Application form.

Here are the dealers who exhibited at the Convention in Wichita in 2010. A few on the list were fill-in dealers who won't be in San Antonio, but most of those on the list will be back again for another Convention. The list will change as the Convention draws near.
